A love of teaching

I grew up playing school when I was younger. I was the one kid in class who could not wait to do an assignment. Things changed some as I grew older, but the love to teach never left me... it just became buried and waiting. I married, had kids, and still I felt like there was more that I was meant to do. When my daughter entered kindergarten and I was left at home with no children to care for, I decided that it was time to look for something to fulfill my day. I started taking college classes in 2007 when she was 3 years old, and flip flopped on my major many times. I was hired in 2009 as a substitute, and immediately fell in love! I knew in my heart then that I was going to become a teacher. I had already taken courses at community college and decided to switch to a university. I have now been working as an educational aid in a classroom that deals mainly with autism, and I have found that I love special education just as much as general. I graduate May 2012. It has been a long hard road. I have sacrificed many family activities and summers. However, I know that I had to do this not only for my family, but for myself. I love teaching and have finally found my God called gift. I am thankful to everyone who has helped me along the way. Whether I am teaching general or special education, I will always remember that I love, therefore I teach! Here is my journey in my last year of school as a mother, wife, teaching aid, and full time student.
